Beer 101: Holy City Madam Basil
Good beer for a even better cause? What more could we ask for…
This week we are highlighting Holy City Brewing‘s Madam Basil. A farmhouse ale fermented with basil, this unique brew has quite the back story. Sarah Gayle from Tradesman Brewing on James Island and Macey from Frothy Beard Brewing on North Charleston started “Brewster’s Brew Day,” where they invite women of any experience level to help brew a new beer.
When the 14 women came together at Holy City Brewing, they came up with Madam Basil. The basil is subtle, completing the fruity aroma from the saison yeast instead of overpowering it. Unique, but balanced.
But wait… We haven’t even gotten to the best part…
$1 from every pint sold of this beers goes to help My Sister’s House, an amazing organization that strives to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse!
