Beer 101 Blog – Local Beer Spotlight

At Charleston Beer Works we are all about local. Whether it be local food, fostering an atmosphere that appeals to Charleston locals, or an emphasis on local beer (arguably the most important.)

Today’s spotlight is on our One Claw Rye Pale Ale from Westbrook Brewing Co. in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Category: Ale
Country: United States
State: South Carolina
Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Pale Ale

One Claw is a rye pale ale made with a heavy helping of malted rye and scoops of a variety of hops – see Beer 101 Blog “Types of Beer,” if you need a refresher on your beer terminology. This golden-amber colored ale has a citrusy, tropical aroma and a crisp, smooth finish. Other adjectives used to describe One Claw: malty, hoppy, and slightly bitter.

Whether you choose to drink it out of the standard decorated blue can or a large frosted glass, One Claw is sure to please. We suggest this beer with our Burger of the Month, The Smokin’ Tom!

This beer is a local favorite and lucky for all of us, it is available year around.
